Why Mental Health and Nutrition Counseling?

You may be wondering why we offer both mental health and nutrition counseling.

We believe we provide an incredibly unique service, by offering both mental health and nutrition counseling. Mental health challenges are often managed by unhealthy eating habits, essentially using food as a legal and socially acceptable ‘drug.’

Food is meant to nourish our bodies, however, all too often it is used to self-soothe and manage life challenges and because it is socially acceptable it is not thought of as a problem. If not addressed, this coping method will ultimately lead to an unhealthy life, both physically and mentally. Diseases, such as diabetes and cardiovascular, begin to decrease the quality of life physically, and then mentally individuals become anxious and depressed over their diminished quality of life. Therefore, at Hope Restored Counseling of Florida, we address food-related issues by addressing the mental health challenges and the relationship with food.
